I ride a 636 and every time there is a damn 250 sharing the road with me, they get all self conscious and butt hurt and start doing stupid shit. 250 is a beginners bike, act like a beginner and respect others on the road, especially? those who will blow the mirrors of your bike, but don't because they know better.

I own a ninja 250r. I am a 6'1 185 lb male with longer legs/arms. Acceleration is not a problem in city/highway speeds. The bike moves and you are easily able to pass someone on the highway at 80-85 mph. It is after that speed that the you will lose some steam. I dont notice much vibration. I have read that upgrading the rear tire helps with that if you feel its an issue. i can agree that my knees dont feel natural? with the tank. There is a mod you can do to shave the seat down that helps

I'm crossed between a ninja 250r and this cbr250r and my biggest questions are: How does the digital speedometer show up in direct sunlight? How is vibration at high speeds? And if I'm 5'11 and 155 lbs will I have a problem with seating positions, getting hit by wind, or getting up to highway/ passing speeds? I've hears that while a person? of my height is sitting on a ninja 250r the gas tank doesn't feel natural on the legs. Does the Honda have this sort of problem?

Im about 5'2": and i recently went and looked at the cbr250r and the ninja 250r, based on what i felt sitting on these 2 bikes is that while on the cbr i can tip toe with both feet. It is a little stretch but on the ninja im about 50% more? flat footed which is a lil more comfortable. Did you look into an ajustable spring or it possibley haveing an adjustable spring stock?

Don't listen to anyone else get "What you want" and what makes you happy. If you're commuting or just cruising to have fun a 250 is great all around for that. these machine have such great reviews from pro riders and amateurs.250 can do everything a 1000 can do on the streets. speed limits are what they are, falling off a bike at 90 on a 250 could kill you same as 180? on a 1000. Just get what you're comfortable with and listen to nobody!.

Hi there! I thought I'd put in my 2 cents. I just bought this bike and I'm 5'2, maybe a teeny bit shorter. So far, I haven't had any problems with it. It is just a bit of a stretch when you're walking the bike but once? you're going, you should be fine. But if you're still concerned that it might be a bit too big for you, the man that sold me the bike at the dealership did mention that there were ways to get it lowered, you may just have to do a little bit of research on that. I hope this helps

They delivered it for free. The total for the bike with Tax and licence was a little over $4200. It was worth every penny. I've had so much fun riding it. I use it to do everything from joy riding to commuting to work. 64mpg isn't bad either.?

The ninja will get you tired in no time. and also you should chek out southern honda sports. they dont charge dealer ship fees and thats where im getting my bike from. they are mad cheap compared to others

Like you, I seriously considered the 250 Ninja. Just bought a black CBR250R day before yesterday. I had a Ninja 250 back in 1987.? They used to call it the Baby Ninja. Out of all the bikes I have owned, I had the most fun on that one. An article in a motorcycle mag described it as a "wasp in a flock of wondering turkeys". This time, the Ninja lost out because of the carburetors. Europe gets injection, we don't. After all, it is 2012. Maintenance is less on the CBR as well.

Restrictions are already happening here in the States, it's just happening in the insurance companies rather than within the Government. That way, people can't hate on the Government, they just bitch at the insurance companies and are forced to either buy an older bike or a smaller one. And with the economy not being so great, they figure well, sales might still? be good for bigger bikes, but the riders will pay for it through insurance. A brand new 600-1000cc sport bike is super high now.

actually they do..well? kind of..insurance companies are slowly raising the premiums for bigger bikes to keep people off of them. So if you think about it, not far down the road, a newbie won't be able to afford something like a 1000cc. I looked into getting a CBR 1000, I have had 2 600's and a Ducati 748, when I got a quote for a 2012 1000..my jaw hit the floor. I even priced a 2012 600..still a ridiculous price to pay a year for insurance so..the restrictions are happening here in the States.

I live in the U.S.(metro detroit)and ride with a full suit. I have actually had new riders ask me all kinds of questions about full suits and I always tell them to get one and stop riding in shorts and a t-shirt. When I first got mine, I felt weird too..like I was pretending to be a racer or? something. But soon you realise how much safer you are when you pull up to a bunch of squids with no helmets and flip-flops on..HA!

Insurance companies are raising their rates to keep people off of bigger sport bikes. It's their way of doing it without actually saying? it. Soon rates will be so high, no one will be able to pay for a bigger cc bike. So in time, bigger sport bikes will dwindle in sales and people will be buying smaller cc's. And it's mostly because of the idiots who buy 1000's and crash a week later. We(the decent riders)end up paying for the idiots mistakes.

I had a neighbor who used to work for State Farm and now works for Allstate, he? told me they won't come out and say it directly,but eventually down the road, not many people are going to be able to afford bigger bike insurance plans. The piston rings DO need to be seated correctly in a new engine, the engine DOES expand into it's parts and shave a little metal into the oil, the engine DOES appreciate a? little babying for the first 300 miles, 3300 miles isn't long at all, you should get a lot more before having any internal engine problems.

Let me share that I've gotten comfortable with the sound of the engine. It sounds like its working hard, but I have gotten comfortable allowing the rpms to go up beyond 7000 without concern and concentrate on not redlining the bike. I have over 1000 miles? on the oil in the bike and it looks new like honey. So, while the answer about when I shift varies (yes, around 7000+), I think you have to get used to the sound in 5th and 6th and watch for redlining.

The? bike has good low-end torque. It will gain speed well from 65 to 70+ on the expressway when needed, but the key is to shift from 6th to 5th when you really need to pull away. That is just instinct after a while, but 6th is like overdrive and 5th has more pull away power. I was running at 78 this past weekend, and the bike was at 8500 rpm or so and not straining. You just have to get used to the sound of the engine and rely on the tach to gauge what is ok and what is too much. Take it easy.

Man, I cannot find your comment asking about the Ninja, so I will reply here. (I get emails of comments but have to go to my channel to reply.) I have not riden he Ninja but would? like too. They've updated it but I've not really seen a review yet. The fact that its a two cylinder is cool, but I can't really compare because the Honda is a new design and an excellent engine. Would love to ride the Ninja, but just don't have access to one. Bottom line, it's probably a matter of preference.

No, I'd say that sitting upright on the VStar is more comfortable than the CBR 250. On the CRB you lean forward a bit and it tends to put pressure on the hands and wrists and generally the bike is more tiring to ride than the VStar. On any sports bike, you have to? try and learn to take the pressure off your hands and support yourself with your abs. For the longer street ride, the VStar is more comfortable. For cornering in the mountains, the CBR is more fun given the riding position.

I've never listened to break in instructions, rode my bikes 15-16k rpm straight off the floor, 3300 trouble free miles on my Gsxr. Atvs, Dirt-bikes etc also had loads of hours and abuse and never gave me trouble. Also most companies now DO NOT use break-in oil anymore they're using straight engine oil. I think the "break in" saying is? garbage.

No worries. I've only been riding two years and set? up this page for new riders. To be honest, and others are free to argue, I would look for a bigger bike if I were you're height. Tall riders have said they are comfortable on this bike, but I am much shorter than you, I and don't see being on this bike at your height. I'd look for a used Yamaha FZR6. I has a mechanic tell me the quality is excellent. He said the engine is bullet proof. Please watch for my new video today.

That's true, sorry if I was too "this is better than that and that's it", I think the ninja has EFI, im not sure though! I have never ridden the Ninja, I'm past the beginner bikes, but im still fan of the looks and motor of the Ninja, once I overtook? a friend and that little engine s very strong, i was doing something like 200 km/h (125 mph) and he was doing pretty much 180 km/h (112.5 mph), so i kind of like that power even though is only 250cc, cheers

You can't just generalize and say a 2-cyl is better for "that". I think you mean as an overall daily rider? This would be true of bigger 2cyl models like the Ninja 650, but not the 250. Pretty sure the Kawi is 13k redline, not 15k. Yeah the Kawi may be revvier and sportier, but it's largely old tech wrapped in new clothes. The Honda is all new tech and better build quality. Plus that torque curve is better for every day riding.? Better all around bike IMO.

I haven't had any? problems seeing the gauges in bright sunlight even with my visor on. Some people complain about it though. The engine is smooth at higher speeds (75-90 mph) for a 250 cc single, but it's no four cylinder. Best thing is to test ride it yourself and see if it suits you.

The fueling station often has paper towels for use. If they don't, then I'd fuel up elsewhere in case that says something about their fuel quality or filtering regime. For tank range, I just? log my fill-ups on Fuelly.com. I get a long term average of my fuel economy, and easily find out how many miles I'm supposed to get if I were to run down to reserve.

That's a good plan. I will keep the trip on and when it flashes..boom, I will have an idea. My only complaint, I wish the fuel cap was hinged, don't like the idea of having to take off the whole cap when re-fueling. But..I figure I will just keep a rag in the storage area and when I fill it up, I will place the rag on the seat and the cap on top of that..that way the? seat won't get any gas on it and the cap won't get any debris from laying it on top of the pump or the ground.

I guess what I should say is ride it until it starts flashing and then fill up to get an idea of when it starts to flash. Keep in mind its a 3.4 US gallon tank and you will get use to figuring how many miles you can go based on the miles ridden, but also use the? fuel gauge as a supplemental guide. If that makes sense.

Well in the owners manual it says that the gauge shouldn't start flashing until there is only about .46 gallons left or something like that. On mine I have been finding that it very consistently starts flashing? much before that usually when I hit 150 miles. I tend to go all the way to 185 to 200 miles and when I fill it at that point I only get about 2.8 gallons added at that point. I don't know if Honda has fixed this for the 2012 model but figure you can safely go 200 miles plus a buffer.

I bought my wonderful red and silver 2011 CBR250R for commuting also and with full saddle and tail bags on it plus my 175lbs body I achieve anywhere from 70 to 74mpg easy depending on the wind and how I'm riding. I commute every day 30 miles one way with it at 70mph maybe 5% is in town and it has? been great. Only issue I find is that I don't have enough curvy roads in my area to really ride it.

76mpg? Damn, that's good. When I first got my 600, I was getting? around 45mpg taking it easy while learning. Then once I got comfortable, I started riding harder and it dropped to around 38. After changing the gearing to -1/+2, I get around 32. Kind of sad when my intention of buying a bike was to save money on gas, lol.

Liked the video but the reporting was a bit too lopsided. The paint job is? actually been disappointing ,especially in India. The gear paddle position and posture for long drives has not been highly praised either. Its a good bike, no doubt but this report did not find anything that requires improvement. You should be just fine. If you're really uncomfortable with your height, then remember a? good pair of riding boots will make you an inch or two taller. If you think you might drop the bike, then have frame sliders installed before you take the bike home. I have a pair of Yoshimura frame sliders for my bike just in case. Height's not a big deal when riding, but you have to pay attention to where you put your feet down at a stop. Be smooth when braking. Walk the bike out of parking spots.

I ride my CBR250R to work 35 miles everyday on the freeway and I do 80mph all the way there damn near with? rpm's to spare. You struggle to get to a hundred riding into the wind but you can hit 85 to 90 no problem.

don't get 600cc I4 those are way too powerfull. If you have to go bigger get a 650cc twin or a 500cc bike. 650cc=2 cylinders under 70hp, 600cc=4 cylinders up to 100hp big difference. if your looking at beginner bikes look at HP rather than displacement? and i would recommend staying under 65hp.

Hello. I used to one a bike like this. To be honest at the beginning the 250 cc feels ok, but the problem is that you'll get the feeling soon that you need more power. Now I drive a Suzuki GS 500 which I think is a lot better than? this one. 500 cc I think is excellent for a beginner, you can keep with one like this for the road for the long road, but I can't say the same for the 250 cc. Another thing is that this 250 cc gets really slow if you drive it with another person as passanger.

eh, I'll keep riding. I've been hurt by a car? before, rear ended in fact, ended up on the guys hood. Learned from that, and I keep away from large groups of cars after that experience. But face it dude, when its your time, its your time. Car or bike if shit hits you, you're probably dead. Riding a motorbike responsibly, learning on a bike that you don't fear and taking everything one step at a time and you'll be fine. Can we all stop the? controversy over motorcycles being dangerous or not? THEY ARE DANGEROUS. There is not much room for error on motorcycles, and no safety features such as airbags and seat belts. BUT the rider must assume all risks that come with riding a motorcycle. Also, stop comparing the danger to other vehicles, I'm not saying motorcycles are any more or less dangerous than cars or any other motor vehicle, I'm just saying there is danger involved with motorcycles period.

it's a ninja 250 dumbass lol.. and it looks better in most people's opinion, not to mention the biggest and usually unspoken advantage the cbr250r has over the ninja 250 is that the cbr250r has a counterbalancer in the bottom of the bike reducing bad vibration known among almost all 250's making it a very smooth riding bike. that alone makes it worth it. plus the ninja 250 requires a lot more throttle to keep it up and going whereas the cbr's? powerband is smooth and easy dumbass.....

Thanks for the clarification, I was going nuts trying to figure out whether it was bazas or bazaz' or whatever, you get the point :) I've looked it up from their site, pretty good stuff but comes with a hefty price tag (380 for Z-Fi and 820 for Z-Fi QS). I'd imagine it'd make? quite a difference though if one was so inclined to take it to the track for racing.

I bought one of these bikes yesterday. I am very pleased with my purchase. I've had a 1500cc cruiser for the past 12? years (Still have it). I got this for commuting. I've been on the interstate and I got it up to 82 mph easily. I weigh about 135 lbs, so I'm sure that is a factor. I love how nimble it feels. Hopefully I can manage close to 70 mpg. If so, I'm sure I'll continue to be happy.

Please keep in mind this is about the 25th time this has happend to me in the first 500 miles on the brand new bike. Coming up to the light, I put my left hand up to signal I pulling the clutch in. Then i begin to brake and downshift. I do not let go of the clutch until the bike is restarted. When I say there is no power, I am refering to no engine power, the power is still on the bike.

The problem sounds like a "Rectifier" issue, Suzuki had a recall a little while back on newer models 2008 and up, where they would just stall out and sometimes not start back at all. I have a 2009 Gsxr that never happened to, but when i took it to the dealer with my letter they fixed it free. I don't get why Honda won't do? anything they're usually awesome with products and warranty. I know Suzuki Definitely is awesome with both.

On most bikes being at a dead stop and trying to switch from 6th to 1st would only let you down 1 to 2? gears, the back wheel needs to be moving the front sprocket to allow full use of the shifting forks inside the engine to go 6 to 1.

It may seem like more trouble to downshift and engage the clutch through each gear, but doing so saved my life. I was coming up to an intersect with a line of cars in? front of me blippin' down the gears. The girl behind me wasnt paying attention and wasnt slowing down. I was already in the right gear to swerve around the car stopped in front of me. The girl that was behind me never hit her brakes. Her car didnt stop until her front bumper touched the front (yes front) tires of the car she hit.

Can't say I've had the same problem, even during panic? stops. Do you just stall on clutch in, or do you stall after you downshift? I've been shifting much closer to Honda's shift schedule in the owners manual recently. At 45 mph, I'm at 6th gear. Before, I'd cruise at 45 mph in 5th gear.

Are you serious? Why would engine brake all way through 4th to 1st to a light I know I HAVE to stop at. The gear ratios are so short on the bike vs the speed you go. Easy, pull the clutch in, and downshift while braking just like i was taught in my beginner riding safety course. Otherwise I'm just constantly shift over and over again every light. If that's how you want to ride and put wear on your engine vs brakes, that's your choice I guess.?

Why would you pull in the clutch and hold it in while down shifting all the way from 6th to first. When approaching the light. Let out the? clutch between each gear downshift allowing the bike to supply engine breaking during deceleration. Or at least downshift 2 gears and let the clutch out.

My bike still has the problem. Honda has no solution, nor are they willing to work with me anymore (Unless a honda rep can replicate it, it's really easy to not replicate it if you want to? btw!). Sad part is I have a 5 year warranty on the bike that doesn't mean a thing. My suggestion to you and anyone else considerring this bike is. ABSOLUTELY DO NO BUY THIS MOTORCYCLE. If you happen to be one of the people who get this lemon version, you're gonna have to sue Honda to get anywhere.

Hey, I bought this bike for my wife and she loves it.? Not too big, not too small. The stock exhaust is very quite which poses a bit of a safety issue. I would rather her bike be loud when she rides it to work every day. I haven't purchased a new pipe yet but i'm definitely going to get something loud. gauthamkss Shifting riders weight to the front, well I do understand and seen ample drag races- but then your terminology applies to those proper drag bikes which have so much power that the riders have to force all their weight to keep their front on the ground. These are small bikes and we only leaned forward to cut the wind deflection once it gathered speed. It can be a hobby as well as a learning bike. I like modding things. I'll mod my bike little by little because it's fun. I guess some guys don't realize mods count for nothing when selling until its too late. I know this already. But, you can save your stock parts and when you sell the bike put them back on. Sell the after-market stuff separately. I'm not sure I'll upgrade anytime soon. This? bike is cheap to operate and suits my lifestyle.

Yeah I wasted a few days trying to find NEW rims to buy, before I realized that there was no such thing! Luckily there is a great Powder Coating place about 8 miles from my house, so it made the whole process a lot easier! : )? You'll definitely need front and rear stands if you don't have them already. I had the dealer remove the bearings and tires off the rims so that I wouldn't be responsible for anything going wrong! The front calipers were easy. . . only two? srews. Anyway it took about a week total to have done.

what you guys did is good. coz there are lot of crazy people who read xbhp Sh** and start saying R15 vs CBR250R. they dont even know what they are taking about. can you compare CBR250R with 1980s Honda CB 250 RS cafe racer. it was a single cy Honda similar to CBR but makes 33bhp lol let his? fools understand Honda reduced CBRs power for mileage and any day it gives 32 to 35km/l and for a 250 that's really Wow

I own CBR and i bet CBR can touch? 100 in 7.9 sec.. and XBHP is one of the bajaj fan site in the web and never talk about their review. Motorbeam may be new but what they say is correct. Short gear ratio needs lot of gear change and CBR can do 100 in 3rd gear if you redline it. Recheck xbhp. On duke page it says CBR 10 sec and if you look at CBR vs Ninja thread done by sunni again.. U will see he says Ninja 6.5 sec and CBR 8sec.. That itself is more than enough to understand they are shitters

I agree with you. While the 250 is capable of highway speeds for a reasonable distance, I would not want to commute every day with? it above 70 mph. My bike, with the new exhaust, tops out at 95mph so there is some power left above 60. Completely agree with you on its light and nimble feel though. Good comment.

I own a 2011 CBR250r and I would say no. You will be in 6th gear >7k? RPM at any speed above 60mph. I personally would feel uncomfortable running the bike at anything above 65 as a regular trip.

I want to chime in here.? I own a 2011 CBR250R and in my opinion it is not the best motorcycle for everyday highway use. There simply isn't enough power in excess at highway speeds to be comfortable, my bike tops out at 82mph for example. With that being said, this is an awesome starter bike... it is a champ at speeds < 60mph, it is extremely light and easy to turn, it is compact, and it is awesome on gas. If you plan on using the highways everyday though, I would recommend at least a 500.

it is very comfortable at 65 mph. The furthest that I have gone in a single day on it was about 200 miles so far. That being said, it held up great; no issues at all. As far as sound is concerned, it has a nice hum around 65-70. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I will? be putting a two brothers slip on, on it. Ill make a highway video with the new exhaust so you can compare.

ts one of the bike that most people are waiting to watch on road.I agree that JAPAN suffered a lot in the natural calamities,so they are bit delaying in delivery. Today i had a hand on the cbr 250 where i came across the {sound so Loud and noisy.I think it needs to be refined.) {The plastic material used over the tail lamp is too light } {Diamond frame is untidy where the finishing? is not done properly,the welding marks r visible } Othr wise its cool...Handy and fast.
