You're a moron face. Efficiency has nothing to do with hp/l. It has to do with miles per? gallon and how much power you get at an instant from an amount of fuel. A much higher RPM engine with a smaller size can easily eat more gas than a bigger V8 that churns at lower rpms. Dumb ass. Go read a book on thermodynamics. A 6.2l corvette gets almost 30mpg in 6th gear doing over 60mph JERK.

The YB Cosworth engine is basically an old Ford Transit pinto bottom end with a fancy 16v head and forged internals. 400bhp+ is easily achieved ON STANDARD INTERNALS! In the 80s it was? producing circa 500bhp in race form and with modern day technology, I have seen many genuine 800bhp cars. For an engine that was developed in the late 70s/ early 80s it is a fantastic engine and is pretty much bullet proof if looked after/tuned correctly.

The cossworth engine sounds like a? 1.6l, The SR20DET was designed for rally and that is were reliability is needed with the engine taking so much stress and shock from jumps, nissans RB26DETT and SR20DETT have both won endurance battles were they raced on a track for hours on end and both of them kept cooler than the others under the same stress.the Cossworth engine just cant do that due to the fact that it's cooling properties are inferior.

a double clutch is when you input a blip of gas to rev? match during a gear shift. Example: I'm slowing down in 4th without braking. As the revs drop I should be in 3rd. Clutch-in while in neutral you blip the gas to build the revs up to where 3rd should engage and then clutch-out. This allows you to have a smoother shift rather than not giving any gas which can cause the car to jerk or shudder.

Don't get me wrong, the engine in the E60 is great, and when equipped with a manual I think its a great car, but, I have never been sold on BMW's SMG. (or any paddle shift for that matter). A admit that you have to go superfast on asphalt , if you have car with independent rear suspension and low center of gravity . But I have much cheaper hyundai atos prime , which has big peace of metal going through both rear wheel , and because it's tall , when you go bit fast in corner , it has lift-off overster instead roling over .? no they wouldnt.... its a very very light car putting out 343 hp at 3400 lbs... the 135 is putting out 300 hp at 3400 lbs..... the tuning of the engine is different as well ..... the 335 has a curb weight of close to 3600 lbs putting? out 300hp even ignoring the fact that the e46 is naturally aspirated and the other two motors have twin turbos with almost the same engine displacement there is no comparison... the e92 m3 however would give this car a run for its money

Hello.. No worries. Well, I've had both cars now, 2 years later. Currently got a 335d which has been remapped,? and previous to that I had an e46 m3. Interestingly, I think the 335d is now cack even though straight line, it's about the same as an M3. Prior to map it was nowhere near.. Cant get on with the slush box and slow diesel response. M3 is where it's at, -period. My E46 M3 was a true drivers car, and its not till you own one that you really realise, so yeah, I agree with you..

Personally, I don't like the way Clarkson does anything. He spouts out so many weird metaphors and British analogies when describing a car that he hardly ever gets technical. He misses the mark when it comes to? the spirit of motoring. He doesn't know cars the way Tiff does. Tiff and Jeremy honestly speak completely different languages. Clarkson to the casual observer. But all true gear heads understand Tiff. His test of the McLaren F1 in 1996 still remains the greatest review of any car....ever

I kind of agree with you. Tiff is a gent, Clarkson is more of an in your face loutish tit. But one thing you do have to understand is that Clarkson is not like that. It is his television visage. Yes, as long as you don't own a Saxo VTS such as my sister's... the electronics on it are horrendous. On the other hand, my brother drives a 14 year old 1.9 (XUD engine) ZX that was company's car for 8 years (yes, no quality maintenance at all and lots of? abuse) and, altough its 380000 km have worn down the shocks that the company refuses to replace, I love driving it. I agree, I am on my sixth and have three at present. There is nothing to touch them for a combination of space, comfort,? ride and economy (manual diesel models) and. unusually in this day and age, you can repair them yourself. The suspension, as well as giving a superb ride, ensures a constant ride height, which not only maintains handling and aerodynamics, but also keeps the front wheels in track, minimising tyre wear. The 2.1 manual diesel is good for 50 mpg+ driven with a little restraint.

I agree, but reliability and durability are two different things. I have been runnings XMs for about 12 years now, and although? the Mk1 version was far from reliable the Mk2 is much better, but, generally they don't develop serious faults and if you keep repairing them they will keep going. The last one I sold had covered nerarly 300k miles and still drove beautifully on most original major components.

How is it valid to say that the ford would be better than the xm if you fitted different suspension parts? There's a lot of work to do to the ford just to make it similar, then someone tweaks the xm and it goes even faster,? and still has smooth ride quality.

By the way I use to have this video cause I wanted to learn? this one move of Tiffs cause when he first pulled it off he did it in an Audi stationwagon in the wet and it was frikken amazing. I wouldnt try this in the wet, too slippery and you will most likely over spin the car and do a 540. The easiest way I learnt it was I broke it up into 2 moves then combined them. Practice doing a reverse 180 perfectly.? Once you master that simply add it to the end of a scandinavian flick that turns the car the opposite way.

I use to practice this move in my mums car when i was a kid and ruined her steering rack lol. I pulled it off in the end but a few months later the steering rack fell apart so be warned. Practice this with a shit car and no you dont need heaps of horse power. The manouver uses momentum, it? will take awhile to learn but you will eventually get it.

As an avid Porsche owner myself, I tend to find that the front of the car bops around alot on uneven surfaces, especially when the fuel tank is low, which is expected in a rear engined car but with 4WD there is less bopping due to the weight of the front differential. My first 911 was a 996 GT3 and? at the beginning I did not like it but I got used to it over time. Totally different animal over a front engined car.

You need Tiff for someone who can drive anything around a bend to give you the low down on a car's real performance, but Clarckson REALLY DOES give a better enthusiast but not professional level opinion. A bit more average guy, however unaveragely rich he is. Tiff misses parts that'd matter to the average guy, and Clarckson misses on the thigns that matter to people who know how to take a machine properly around a track.

this is a very nice looking car. great noise too. i had the pleasure of seeing one at a supercar parade once and, along with a masserati Quatraporte,? it had the nicest engine note. i have not had the pleasure of driving one, but i have seen this, the top gear, and the review from clarksns "thriller" dvd. all claim it is one of tiff / clarksons favourite cars of present. Why u guys all flame tiff? he performs briliant car tests. i do also like clarkson as he delivers a more entertaining approach

haha MKII owners always give me a laugh with their comments surrounding the MK3 saying it's a chick car and? shit compared to the MKII. The MKI and MK3 MR2's are true sports cars yes the MKII is more powerful and can be quicker but thats where the argument ends, The MKII is a more dulled down car and the fact it has a boot you can fit a set of golfclubs in says a lot about what market it was initially aimed towards ;) The MK3 is a pure drivers car well balanced and more fun than a MKII MR2 anyday

yes not very many facelifts had pre-cat issues. but there are definitely some documented cases. although my 03 had a lot of miles on it when I gutted the pre-cats. almost 150,000. so? i blame the previous owner. its ok it doesnt burn much oil but yeah its a shame. probably the coolest car toyota ever made and they totally f'ed it up ): cheers

Never had any trouble with a facelift MR2 and never had anyone complain and I deal with alot of MR2 drivers (you are the first). I agree with your comment 'the 00-02 you are guaranteed an oil-drinking engine. the 03+ theres a small? chance you'll get a precat-messed up engine.' but like any car there is a small chance you can get? a engine problem, so with the MR2 facelift you probably got one that was built on a friday afternoon lol.

the facelift models are NOT safe from pre-cat issues I know this because my 2003 burns oil because of slightly deteriorated pre-cats. but the 00-02 ALSO suffers from oval-bore syndrome (this was fixed in? 03) the way the mr2 spyder works is, the 00-02 you are guaranteed an oil-drinking engine. the 03+ theres a small chance you'll get a precat-messed up engine. avoid 00-02 at all costs. or buy an 00-02 and swap in a 2zz

You can however upgrade the pre-cats by swapping them with one from a facelift? MR2 (This I would reccomend) or you can gut them (they are not a legal requirement in the UK) and with nothing inside the precat housing there is nothing to cause damage... Also by gutting theoretically you reduce resistance in the exhaust and may just squeeze a little more power out of the engine (maybe 1BHP)... I think this should answer your question

If you install the 190BHP 2zz you would be foolish to keep the standard exhaust and air intake as the 2zz conversion will cost typically over £1000 (more like £2500 for a refurbished one plus installation) and the standard exhaust would hold it back something awful. So by? upgrading the full exhaust system you would eliminate the pre-cats.

The 1zz pre facelift models have the problems with the pre-cats... the facelift models like mine were ok. As for the 2zz the MR2 was not available with the 2zz engine. The only way to get one is to buy one with the? engine swap already or have one swapped yourself.

Personally I think it could have looked better, If it had supra like curves or if it was manned up a little.? Also I don't agree with it only having the 140BHP engine from the Celica when they could have offered the choice of the 190BHP 2ZZ engine also from the calica. Wrong, I myself am a helicopter pilot, and i know for a fact that you can fly without using the controls for over 3 MINUTES (not SECONDS), also, just for the record, if a helicopters engine fails it will not fall out of the sky, helicopters can auto-rotate (like gliding) land in a confined space with no forward speed and not crash, most chopper crashes are because of pilot? fault low to the groud, powerlines are the main threat. apart from that good pilot skill.
