Actually, "blackface" originally was worn by African descendants because some of the minstrel entertainers weren't black enough! Talk about irony. My, how the minstrel "blackface" has changed! I honestly feel no racism in the blackface appearance; it pertains to Berlin's age and the culture at the time. The Cure has a video for the song "Why can't I be you?" where one of the band? members is in blackface imitating a jazz musician, no one has yet to protest that;You can't, it wasn't offensive.
